[Gameplay trailer for Pest Control. A little green alien rides on a hovering vehicle while collecting crops, running into little pink invading pests, and destroying pollutant metal structures. Another green alien with glasses and long white beard explains the premise. There are four locations presented: a green world, a trippy pink world, a snow world, and a lava world.]

I’m Sarah Nuse and I live to problem solve! I love learning new skills and testing my ingenuity. Making video games is awesome for consistently giving me new problems to solve and new skills to learn.
I have a Computer Science degree and 10 years experience working in tech (IT, Infra Eng, EDI). In early 2020 I decided to return to my first love, the reason so many of us went into Comp Sci to begin with, making video games! So I’ve been teaching myself game development in C#. I started in Unity and have been recently learning Godot.

Hill Country
My first game, made at the start of the pandemic. A simple word puzzle game and a tiny love letter to the flora and fauna of Texas. Made in Unity.

Boids
A little flocking toy that can be played in a browser. You can make lots simple jiggly wobbly visualizations. Made in Unity.

A game about lasers, power sources, wires, and helping friendly androids. These videos show off the development of mechanics and look as the game is progressing.
Being made in Godot.
8/25/22 - barely even a prototype
11/16/22 - starting to develop the game pieces and mechanics
12/16/22 - really shaping up what the game space looks like
1/26/23 - finally there is a “win” state! it still needs a bit more complexity to know if there’s a game here
I’m also proud of this little neural network I made. Each square gets randomized synapses connecting simple inputs (age, location, neighbors) to simple actions (move, eat, reproduce). The first generations act at random, but a few manage to reproduce and eventually evolve the necessary behaviors to stick around. Look at these brainiacs go! Made in Godot. No link yet.
